Kibwezi, Kenya (16th June 2011)- Farmers from Kibwezi district recently received their first crop compensation payouts from Jubilee insurance Ltd. At a lively ceremony held at Kambo location in Kibwezi, several happy farmers from around the district received cheques to cover losses of their sorghum crops as a result of poor rainfall over the last planting season. The individual compensations ranged from Ksh 4000 to Ksh 60,000. In attendance to witness the handover of the cheques were local farmers, district agricultural officials, provincial administration officials and Smart Logistics, the sorghum buying agents of East African Breweries Ltd and trainers of the sorghum farmers.
